Question

If I use a free email address such as Hotmail or Yahoo will my arb alerts be delayed?

Answer

Sports arbitrage traders can experience two specific problems when using free email address such as Hotmail and Yahoo.

Firstly, Hotmail and other similar services are extremely popular and therefore handle vast numbers of emails each day. Due to the sheer volume of email being processed, delays are sometimes experienced, although these may only be a few minutes in duration. However, as timing is extremely important when engaging in sports arbitrage, this can be a problem.

Secondly, due to the fact that our emails contain links to bookmakers' websites, many free email systems such as Hotmail will mark them as spam and can even delete them immediately without them ever reaching your mailbox. One solution to this is to set your junk mail filters to a low setting, or if possible, add us to a "friends" list or "whitelist" so that our emails get through. Unfortunately sometimes even this is not enough to guarantee that our arb alert emails will be delivered.

Due to both these factors, we strongly encourage our members to use a POP3 email service, usually offered by Internet service providers.

If any members experience problems receiving our emails, we are happy to provide them with a POP3 mailbox on our own server free of charge.
